An Introduction
As an artist, I would describe myself as a representational oil painter interpreting the modern world through the lens of classical realism.
I was born and raised in Richmond, Virginia, graduating from the University of Mary Washington with a degree in Art History and Business Administration. My husband and I raised two sons in the Richmond area and, while they were younger, I channeled my creative energy into running a photography business. Eventually, my love for painting and drawing took me to the Studio School at the VMFA and the Visual Arts Center in Richmond to begin more focused studies.
The process of painting is infinitely fascinating to me. Working out how to translate three-dimensional forms and scenes in a realistic yet painterly way is challenging and satisfying. It's meditative, absorbing, and, at times feels like magic.
Currently, my work is focusing on portraiture. I’ve always had a fascination with the human face and the process of capturing the likeness, and hopefully spirit of a person is absorbing.
